Ten
Little Indians
This was my first venture into performing
a "murder/mystery" play and it was a rewarding experience
in many ways.

One down . . . |
|
Written by Agatha Christie, this play
centers around 10 people who are lured to a remote island. As the
play progresses, they are mysteriously killed in ways that mirror
the "Ten Little Indians" nursery rhyme verses. I played
Captain Philip Lombard, the adventurous (yet suspicious) "Casanova."
After finishing performing in two
concurrent shows (the musical The Little Princess and The
Taming of the Shrew), and having every intention of taking
some time off, I was persuaded to take this great role by Director
Jim Miller.
In many ways, performing in this play
was like stepping into an old black & white movie. The dialogue
was written 60+ years ago by Agatha Christie (who adapted her original
story for the stage) and is certainly a product of its day. Still,
it's a solid and entertaining story, one that's been adapted many
times over the years. Each actor played their part as truthfully
as they could and the audience joyfully came along for the ride.
It was great fun for all of us in the cast to find out who the audience
suspected as the play progressed.
The cast and crew of this play were
an absolute pleasure. During rehearsals and backstage, we had a
great time getting to know each other, joking around and breaking
the tension of a "deadly-serious" drama.
Putting on a play can be challenging
and a lot of hard work. I've found the experience is most enjoyable
when you're surrounded by nice and talented artists such as these.

Having fun with
the rest cast of Ten
Little Indians.
